British singer born February 26, 1947, in Dagenham, Essex. Married to Jeff Banks (2) (1968-1978) and Nik Powell (co-founder of the Virgin Group, 1982-1995). She won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1967 with the song 'Puppet on a String'. Shaw was a regular on popular British TV programmes of the time such as Top of the Pops, Ready Steady Go! and Thank Your Lucky Stars. Epitomising the "swinging Sixties", her trademark of performing barefoot earned her the nickname "barefoot Sandie". She also recorded many hit singles in Italian, French, German and Spanish. Retired from the music industry in 2013.
