Josef Filtsch (1813–1894) was a composer and pianist, 17 years older than Carl Filtsch, a beloved pupil of Chopin and known as a child prodigy. He left behind 15 piano pieces that strongly reflect the style and techniques of Viennese music at the time, including Nocturne, Elegy, Exile Song, Two Salon Etudes, Romance without Words, Village Bells, and Lullaby. His most famous work is the Op. 13 Mazurka.
