"No North Briton" is the only full-length album by the Edinburgh-based collective Rote Kapelle, originally released in 1990 following the band's dissolution. The group was a key player in the 1980s Scottish independent scene and was closely associated with the C86 movement. The lineup featured Andrew Tully and Margarita Vazquez-Ponte, both of whom were also members of Jesse Garon and the Desperadoes and The Shop Assistants. Musically, the album is a blend of energetic jangle-pop and post-punk with a distinctive "Edinburgh accent." The modern reissue under Cherry Red Records (February 2026) brings this archival material back into the digital space, preserving the legacy of Scottish indie rock.
