In this work on the album, Fabricius collaborates with an old classmate from Berklee College of Music, where they both studied in the early 90s. Chris Lavender was playing the vibraphone back then, as was Martin Fabricius. Today, Lavender plays the "touch guitar," which is a mix of bass and guitar. This instrument is played more like a piano. In addition, unobtrusive percussion elements have been added to the music.
Fabricius has a special ability to convey the inner essence of melodies. He creates simple, calm melodies that penetrate into the body and into the head, instilling the same sense of peace as music. The soundtrack-like property of music helps to lift the mood and support emotions. If I were a filmmaker... then!
The "touch guitar" is an unusual instrument that occupies an intermediate position between the sound of the harpsichord and playing on the thumb. Fortunately, it doesn't sound as unusual on the record as I described it here. It could easily be imagined as a trick tool. However, Lavender is in such good musical contact with Fabricius that she supports Fabricius' completely adventurous vibraphone playing.
This is a healing and wonderful record that can be recommended for a quiet cup of coffee, sitting by the window and letting the clouds float by.
