A solo project for Julie Campiche, harpist, singer, and composer, who elegantly enriches contemporary jazz with fresh sounds. Much poetry, relevance, and research went into crafting this series of portraits of women past and present, famous or unknown. The album gives a voice to those whom history has forgotten or silenced. Among them are Grisélidis Réal, a mother, prostitute, and political activist; the dancer and filmmaker Andréa Bescond; and the American activist Tarana Burke. For years, Julie Campiche has been developing a unique musical language. Her world freely blends jazz, classical music, electronic music, and avant-garde, venturing into new territories. She received the 2025 Swiss Music Prize. "L’écho des pavanes" (The Echo of Pavanes) takes a detour to L'Instrumentarium in Paris, where David Christoffel met Loïc Allio, the commercial and technical director, and where we witness the repair of a harp. And Julie Campiche is Ivor Malherbe's guest to dissect the subject matter, the mysteries, the inspirations and the questions of this new album "Unspoken".
