Drew Gardner - Flowers in Space (2023) [Hi-Res]

Guitarist Drew Gardner, notable for his roles in Elkhorn and Heavy Lidders, has released his debut solo LP Flowers in Space featuring bassist Andy Cush and drummer Ryan Jewell. The album consists of four instrumental tracks that blend jazz-inflected improvisation with rural progressive influences, drawing stylistic parallels to early 1970s trio recordings and the minimalist improvisations of the Grateful Dead circa 1969. The sound is characterized by a fluid, smokey, and meditative atmosphere that reveals greater depth upon repeated listens. Recorded in 2019, the release is a refined example of low-key, psychedelic instrumental exploration.
