Booker Stardrum presents his latest album, "Close-up On The Outside," a work that merges electroacoustic environments, natural field recordings, and organic instrumental performances. Initiated during a 2022 residency in the Catskill Mountains, the project draws inspiration from the microtonal innovations of Harry Partch and the legacy of the artist’s father, Dean Drummond. Stardrum employs MIDI controllers and sampling to manipulate acoustic sequences while maintaining the distinct artistic identities of his collaborators. The record is conceptually grounded in social ecology, specifically the idea of "third nature," which examines the inherent connection between human development and the natural world, seeking a symbiotic balance between humanity and technology.
