Mattia Zanlorenzi - Wanderlust (2026)

Produced by Dodicilune, distributed in Italy and abroad by IRD and in major online stores by BELIEVE DIGITAL, Wednesday, March 4, 2026 sees the release of “Wanderlust” the new CD by Turin-based drummer and composer Mattia Zanlorenzi, accompanied by guitarist Claudio Lodati (guitar, live electronics, synth) and bassist Danilo Gallo (bass, bass balalaika, Farfisa, noise box).

A “visionary” project, as music critic Davide Ielmini defines it in the liner notes accompanying the album, inspired by great American drummer Paul Motian, to whom Zanlorenzi dedicated part of his academic studies. Five original tracks written by the leader himself and four by Paul Motian, where “the music is transversal, almost curved, a pulsation that reacts to the need to free itself from the musical structure in order to translate every single note into an almost autonomous entity” writes Ielmini. “A courageous music because it is intimately provocative, made up of cosmic dawns, sound fluids, and rhythmic vitamins. Without emulation, without caricature, and without fear.”
