A selection of sophisticated Japanese jazz funk perfect for the city! This new series of "CITY MUSIC TOKYO," curated and supervised by Kunimondo Takiguchi, focuses on Japanese jazz funk.
The 18 tracks, some of which have never been released on CD, were selected alongside Takiguchi's memories, including popular songs among overseas music lovers and rare grooves from a DJ's perspective.
The jacket artwork is by Takao Niikura of kissa nico, a cafe adjacent to Komazawa Park.
"CITY MUSIC TOKYO" is the popular compilation series initiated by Kunimondo Takiguchi of RYUSENKEI.
The second installment of the jazz funk edition, which could be considered a new chapter, will be released on vinyl, CD, and digitally by Nippon Columbia.
This compilation, a selection of urbane and sophisticated Japanese jazz-funk/crossover/rare groove tracks from Nippon Columbia releases, strikes a chord with Kunimondo Takiguchi (RYUSENKEI). Words like "night," "drive," "dandyism," "car chase," "city," "hard-boiled," and "men and women" suit it perfectly, creating a fictional soundtrack with a hint of the Showa era.
