Emma Ruth Rundle - Music from the Bella Vista (2025)

The album is an expansive compilation of improvised piano sketches and field recordings captured while Emma Ruth Rundle was working on her debut poetry collection. Positioned as a musical companion to the book, the work was inspired by the aesthetics of ambient composer Harold Budd (the title is a direct homage to his 2003 album La Bella Vista). The sonic landscape is built upon minimalist keyboard passages interwoven with environmental noises recorded during tours and travels.

Thematically, the project explores subjects of romantic attachment, self-destruction, and existential searching. The musical component moves away from the artist's typical post-rock or sludge weight, leaning instead toward neoclassical and sound poetry. In the physical edition, the material is presented as two long-form suites where poetry readings are integrated directly into the musical structure, whereas the digital release is segmented into individual fragments.
