The core of Through that garden gate is perceiving nature as something that is within us and in everything we do each day, such as enjoying an apple after lunch, a radiant pothos at home, or strolling through the park surrounded by singing birds on our way to work. But this concept goes further when we think about mutual aid, co-operation for the sake of the common good, as the key to our success as a species that is part of nature. Approaching the recordings with intentional rawness, capturing only the purest expression, most of the pieces were written during live sessions. The results are both static and ephemeral feelings with hardly any formal structure, just as they occur in nature.
