An artist of quite stunning ability and one of the finest American songwriters of the era, the late Laura Nyro remains a sadly
missed yet criminally underrated musical force.
Nyro achieved critical acclaim with her own recordings, particularly on the albums Eli And The Thirteenth Confession (1968), New
York Tendaberry (1969), and Christmas And The Beads of Sweat (1970), but she additionally had commercial success with artists
such as Barbra Streisand, Three Dog Night and The 5th Dimension – among others – who recorded her songs.

• A consummate and intimate performer too, Laura Nyro’s concerts were spiritual and emotional events, and shortly
after the release of her fourth record in late 1970, she played at Bill Graham’s Fillmore East venue in New York, on 22nd
December that year. Supported by her then lover Jackson Browne, the entire show was recorded for live FM Radio
Broadcast across the NYC area, and from the publicity garnered from both the concert, and more specifically by the live
broadcast, Laura increased her status and standing significantly across the USA.
