Eric Street Band - The Word On The Street (2024)

This album is several years late. After we released ‘Eye Of The Storm’ in 2019, we had such great reviews that Gordon and I were keen to write a follow-up album. So after a couple of gigs where we sold loads on CD, we started writing a batch of new material. We put down 6 or so new songs on Gordon’s demo gear, but then things went wrong! The Covid lockdown happened, so we could no longer get together, and during that time Gordon’s gear went down and we lost everything that we’d done!

It was a bad time, but eventually we were able to get together on a regular basis and start work on the new songs. We decided that we wanted to go back to basics and create an album of pure, raw blues - songs that would put the smile back on your face and get you back on your feet and into the groove!

It was a long time coming, but in March 2024 we were able to get the guys together at Creation X, Nikki’s studio near Wokingham. Backing tracks were laid down in 2 or 3 takes over 2 days, then Gordon and I went back in April to do the vocals, the guitar and organ overdubs, and guest harmonica from Dave Raphael. Henry mixed it all at his studio over the next few months.

We had some very sad news in November 2023 - we heard that Diana Swens, our biggest fan in the USA, had passed away. She did so much for us in getting the band well known in the USA, where we topped the USA chart, and to this day we are still in the top twenty. So this album is dedicated to her...
