Michael E’s refined production style provides the perfect backdrop for Ashley Slater’s unmistakable musical personality. Known for his expressive trombone playing and distinctive gravelly voice, Slater brings depth and character to the album. He first rose to international fame with the project Freak Power and their worldwide hit “Tune In, Turn On, Cop Out,” and was also a member of the influential British Jazz collective Loose Tubes. Another highlight is “Mind Games,” featuring bassist Fabio Testa. Michael E discovered Testa through a YouTube tutorial where he demonstrated the bass line from Marvin Gaye’s classic “What’s Going On.” Impressed by his ability to capture the unmistakable groove of Motown legend James Jamerson, Michael invited him to contribute to the album. Testa’s bass work adds an authentic soulful foundation to the track.
