In 1970, Samoan singer Eliza Keil, popular in New Zealand, released a solo album and the eponymous single "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head."
Eliza began in the family rock 'n' roll band The Keil Isles, considered New Zealand's "musical royalty." In the mid-1960s, she launched a successful solo career in cabaret and pop vocals.
Her deep contralto voice earned her the nickname "New Zealand's Mahalia Jackson."
She was a regular on popular TV shows such as "C'mon."
In 1972, Eliza moved to Arizona, USA, to reunite with her family and pursue her career abroad.
