Love Cry Want is the self-titled album by the American experimental band, recorded in June 1972 during an anti-war rally in Washington, D.C., but officially released only in 1997.
A blend of avant-garde jazz, psychedelic rock, and early electronic fusion, it features legendary jazz organist Larry Young, known for his work with Tony Williams and Miles Davis, as well as Nicholas (guitar, synthesizer) and Joe Gallivan (drums, synthesizer).
The recording took place live outdoors. Legend has it that the performance was so loud and unusual that it aroused concern among the Secret Service at the White House.
The album is notable for its use of prototype guitar synthesizers and deep improvisation.
