Rising Balloon is the debut studio album by the German musical project Nautilus, released in January 1998. Led by Martin Ludwig, the band performs music in the style of the Berlin School, combining electronic sounds with elements of progressive rock and ambient.
The main contributors to the album were Martin Ludwig (keyboards, synthesizers, sequencer) and Ralf Obel (samplers, synthesizers).
Other contributions included Werner Stretz (electric guitar), Erok (drum samples, title track production), and Alexander Burghardt (keyboards).
The band's music is often compared to the work of such bands and artists as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and Grobschnitt, thanks to its combination of synthesizer sequences and atmospheric guitar parts in the style of David Gilmour.
