Don't Stop Now is the second album by The Brothers, a studio project produced by Brooklyn-born producer, arranger, and vocalist Warren Schatz with keyboardist and co-arranger Bhen Lanzaroni. The album was recorded and mixed at RCA Studios in New York and released in 1976 on RCA Records through the Sunbar Productions, Inc. imprint.
The Brothers were not a conventional band but rather a carefully assembled ensemble of New York session musicians brought together by Schatz to replicate the orchestral "Philadelphia" sound. The sessions featured tenor saxophonist George Young, trumpeters Burt Collins and Joe Shepley, trombonists Alan Raph and Tony Studd, percussionist and vibraphonist George Devens, and The New York String Section. Mike Hartry served as recording engineer.
Compared to the debut Disco-Soul (1975), the second album boasted a more expansive orchestral sound thanks to a larger budget. Schatz's approach combined lush string arrangements with a funky rhythm section — heavy basslines, wah-wah guitar, flute, and keyboards. Tracks flowed seamlessly into one another on each side of the vinyl, creating a continuous dance set in the spirit of the hustle era.
The album is predominantly instrumental, though the track "Voce Abousou" — a disco-samba arrangement of Antonio Carlos & Jocafi's famous Brazilian song "Você Abusou" — stands as a notable exception, featuring vocalist Vicki Sue Robinson singing convincingly in Portuguese. This track, along with instrumentals "Under My Skin" (written by Mitch Farber) and "Brothers Theme" (written by Schatz), became hits in New York dance clubs. The liner notes' acknowledgment of the New York Disco Pool confirms the release's club-oriented intent.
The album earned cult status among disco and modern soul enthusiasts, and in the UK it also attracted Northern Soul fans during the era when the "crossover" between Northern Soul and Modern Soul was taking shape. An expanded CD reissue appeared in 2014 with seven bonus tracks (12" and 7" versions), liner notes by Alex Henderson, and remastering by Sean Brennan.
