The Love That Whirls (Diary of a Thinking Heart) is a solo studio album by British musician Bill Nelson (founder of Be-Bop Deluxe), released in June 1982.
Synth-pop, new wave, and ambient, the album features extensive use of synthesizers, drum machines (including the legendary Roland TR-808), and Nelson's signature E-bow electric guitar.
The title refers to the dancing of Sufi dervishes, whose whirling movements are a form of prayer and an expression of divine love.
