French easy listening legend Paul Mauriat took his signature orchestral sound into futuristic territory with his 1980 album Aerosong. Released on the Philips label, the album's title and concept drew inspiration from "the sky and space," with Mauriat crafting "futuristic and romantic instrumental performances" that incorporated synthesizers and "spacey soundscapes" pushing beyond traditional easy listening boundaries. Across 17 tracks, Mauriat and his longtime collaborator Gérard Gambus blended original compositions like the title track "Aerosong" with Latin-infused arrangements of works including Violeta Parra's "Gracias A La Vida," Ariel Ramírez's "Alfonsina Y El Mar," and Brazilian favorites such as Ivan Lins' "Começar De Novo".
