In Germaine Tailleferre one always finds a respect for musical tradition, in particular that of the 17th century masters, along with an instinctive use of polytonality. The pieces for piano, some recorded here for the very first time, are characterized by their simple and subtle charm (Pastorale), their freshness of colour and their typically French manner.
