Garybaldi - Nuda (1972)

"Nuda" is a cornerstone of Italian Progressive Rock and one of the most expressive albums of the early 70s. Following their transition from the band Gleemen, Garybaldi (led by the incomparable Bambi Fossati) delivered a work that perfectly balances Hendrix-inspired psychedelic fury with the grand, symphonic ambitions of the burgeoning prog scene. The album is a journey of contrasts: raw power and delicate beauty, chaotic improvisation and structured classical influence.

The record is famously divided into two distinct experiences. Side A features shorter, punchier tracks where Fossati’s "Hendrixian" guitar work takes center stage—blistering, fuzz-laden, and deeply emotional. Side B, however, is occupied by the monumental 20-minute suite "Moretto da Brescia". This epic track is a masterpiece of storytelling, moving through pastoral acoustic movements, haunting Hammond organ passages by Lio Marchi, and explosive crescendos. "Nuda" remains a bold, uncompromising statement of artistic freedom and musical virtuosity.
