youbet is the third studio album by Brooklyn duo youbet, released May 1, 2026 on Hardly Art (a Sub Pop imprint). Longtime music educators Nick Llobet (he/they) and Micah Prussack (she/her) shaped the record on the road, between extended touring stretches, capturing a spirit of ecstatic possibility and hard-won grit. Llobet had relocated to New York from Denver in 2013; it wasn't until meeting Prussack in 2022 that the project found a new level of musical intimacy, with a year of touring together refining the sound into something sturdier and more expansive.
Co-produced by Katie Von Schleicher and Julian Fader, the album moves between the delicate, Big Thief-adjacent warmth of opener "Ground Kiss" and the concussive alt-rock force of "See Thru," while Prussack's bass anchors the drum backbone throughout. A broad range of influences — The Beatles, Bernard Herrmann's Vertigo score, flamenco, Japanese noise-rockers Boris — weave through the record as the duo crafts a shared musical language unmistakably their own. Lyrically, the album maps the wreckage of a long-term relationship and the effort of rebuilding: "Undefined" processes life before and after an 11-year breakup, while "Receive" channels self-recrimination and generational conflict into a guitar-driven surge reminiscent of Pile. What emerges is an album that doesn't merely escape its former constraints but reconfigures them — a collaborative language built to hold contradiction, growth, and connection at once.
