Bill Lloyd is best known as one half of the country duo Foster & Lloyd, which was popular in the 1980s. As a solo artist, he is considered a master of intelligent power pop, having worked with artists such as Ray Davies (The Kinks), Cheap Trick, and Marshall Crenshaw.

Boy King of Tokyo is a solo studio album by American musician, songwriter, and producer Bill Lloyd, released in 2012 on Whole In One Records.

The title track is based on Lloyd's personal memories of his childhood in Japan, where he lived as a "gaijin brat" (child of a foreigner).

Bill Lloyd wrote all the songs himself and performed most of the vocals, drums, bass, and keyboards. On the tracks "Doc's Box #1" and "Chet's Right Hand, Man," he used authentic guitars from legendary musicians Doc Watson (Gallagher) and Chet Atkins (Guild 6120), which he had access to while working in the archives at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
