Ored Recordings presents Cherim's album "Gymaq," fulfilling the label's long-standing vision for experimental North Caucasian music. The project is based on the deconstruction of the label's archival recordings, reimagining traditional Circassian vocals and folk instruments like the shichepshin and pkhachich through ambient, dub techno, and hauntology. The artist explores themes of cultural identity and longing for home, utilizing samples of folk performers to create a viscous, spectral atmosphere. The album represents a transition from documenting traditions to their avant-garde reinterpretation, deliberately avoiding suffocating nostalgia.
