Villeneuve - Now I Am Alone Before The Stars (2026)

This album was originally released on cassette by the Scum Yr Earth label, run by Michel Supermalprodelica and Joseph Ghosn. I was given carte blanche to experiment with my modular synthesiser. This led to discussions with Michel and the discovery of Joao Cesar Monteiro's film Silvestre, which unconsciously guided my cinematic approach to composition.

A bewitching combinatory adaptation of the Bluebeard tale and a 15th century Portuguese fable of a damsel who disguises herself as a knight errant, Silvestre is using deliberate artifice – frontprojected backgrounds, extended freeze frames, theatrical performances – to capture the
fatalistic rhythm and dream logic of myth. That was the perfect visual background as I discovered the infinite landscapes and sonic poetry that my modular synths could unleash.

You may feel the desolation and contained rage in ‘Before’, a sense of calm in ‘Stars’, enter into a synthetic circle in ‘Now’, slow things down with ‘I’, take off serenely with “Alone” and its stellar winds, dance a consoling circle with ‘Am’, listen to a piano being engulfed by myriad
synthetic elements in ‘The’, and finally discover an ancestral voice telling you about loneliness before the stars in ‘Now I Am Alone Before The Stars’.

Wanting to give meaning to music sometimes makes no sense. Especially today, when the news is getting worse every day. Releasing an album seems pointless, talking about it and posting on social media even more so. One thing that remains is the luxury of being able to do good for
others, and for oneself. Personally, it's by turning on my machines and losing myself in sound. For as long as possible. As far as possible. I hope these tracks will perhaps give you feelings similar to mine.

Each track was born from improvisation with my modular synths.
