Structural clarity and tonal splendor: Rudolf Kempe's legacy rediscovered!

These are three previously unreleased live recordings from 1971 and 1973 that illustrate the entire spectrum of Richard Strauss' work: his monumental Alpine Symphony, the comedic-theatrical suite to Der Bürger als Edelmann and the intimate, ethereal Metamorphosen. The Munich Philharmonic Orchestra performs under the direction of its chief conductor at the time, Rudolf Kempe. Kempe's unmistakable interpretations are characterized by structural clarity and tonal transparency, combined with a subtle sense of drama. The recordings are a document of their time and at the same time a timeless homage to one of the most important Strauss interpreters of the 20th century.
