"This New Day: Music of Reflection and Devotion" is an album by the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square, released on Friday, May 8, 2026.
This is the group's first studio album in seven years that is not Christmas-themed.
The album is conceived as a musical space for reflection, renewal, and spiritual connection. According to Associate Music Director Ryan
Murphy, the recording allowed the musicians to refine their performances and offer listeners "the best product" for daily inspiration.
The central theme is hope and new beginnings. The title track, "We Thank Thee, Lord, For This New Day" by Mack Wilberg, was written specifically for the choir's return to live performances in October 2021 after a hiatus caused by the pandemic. Combining new choral works with some of classical music's most recognizable melodies, the album creates a deeply soothing and moving listening experience.
From Pachelbel's Canon in D major and Bach's Aria in D major to Saint-Saëns's "Aquarium" and Holst's "Jupiter," these iconic themes come to life with 360 voices and a full orchestra.
