Distant Birds - VOL. 01 & 02 (2026) [Hi-Res]

Distant Birds is a collaborative project featuring prominent Australian musicians Chris Abrahams, Dave Symes, and drummer Evan Mannell. Their debut release, "VOL. 01 & 02," comprises a series of live improvisations recorded in single takes. The album’s musical tapestry synthesizes elements of Afrobeat, dub-reggae, soul, and minimalism to create a hypnotic atmosphere. The members integrated their diverse backgrounds—ranging from the avant-garde jazz of The Necks to the indie rock of Boy & Bear—to produce meditative, evolving soundscapes. Central to the concept is an instrumental dialogue where brass sections and synthesizers layer over a stable yet fluid rhythmic foundation, blurring the boundaries between dance music and experimental art.
