The renowned trumpeter Matthias Höfs performed and then recorded the concertos by Fazil Say and Wolf Kerschek during his artist residency with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester.​ Both concertos were originally written for Matthias Höfs​.

Fazil Say is one of the most important and successful contemporary pianists and composers whose works continue to reach a wide audience​. Wolf Kerschek is a Hamburg composer, arranger, conductor and jazz musician as well as a professor of jazz theory, composition and film music. His new concerto “The four elements” is a world premiere recording on this album.
