Playing tenor and soprano sax, Peter Furlan leads a hip and hard bopping team of Vinnie Cutro/tp-fh, Andrew Beals/as, Erick Storckman/tb, Neil Alexander/p, Joel Newton/g, Charlie Dougherty/b, Brad Hubbard/bars-bcl and Nadav Snir-Zelniker/dr through a hard hitting and exciting set of originals.

The horns are bright, bold and ballsy, with Cutro and Beals cutting the rug with the l eader’s tenor on “Return to The Be-Bop Tango” while the horns harmonize gorgeously on “Twisted River”. Furlan’s tenor is a force of nature, searing on the slower “The Ice Committee” while shuffling on the hip “The Crawl Too” with Beals, Storckman and Hubbard”. Alexander is grooving high on a read of “Perfidia” and Snir-Zelniker leans into the funk factor while getting the spotlight on “Mrs. Clean Freak”. Blue chip notes a la Blue Note.~ By George W. Harris
