The Colombian-French band Aïtawa presents their debut album Pasaje, exploring themes of transition, resilience, uprooting, and the preservation of Afro-Colombian and indigenous cultural memories. The musical foundation of the release blends traditional rhythms from Colombia's情 Caribbean and Pacific coasts with electric guitars, keyboards, psychedelic elements, and traditional gaita flutes. The album ranges from deeply personal tracks exploring nostalgia and desire to socio-political statements written amidst the global crises of 2025 (Que el miedo se acabe). By reimagining traditional folklore, such as the Andean bambuco rhythm in their cover of Van cantando por la sierra, the quartet delivers a modern, trance-inducing, and dynamic sound that functions as a symbolic shield in a changing world.
