Tune-Yards — I Love Boosters (Original Motion Picture Score) is the original film score to Boots Riley's crime comedy of the same name (USA, 2026), released by Neon on May 22, 2026. The film was produced by Annapurna Pictures, Ryder Picture Company, and Savage Rose Films, and features an ensemble cast including Keke Palmer, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Demi Moore, LaKeith Stanfield, Eiza González, Poppy Liu, and Will Poulter.
Tune-Yards — the duo of Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner, collaborating since 2009 — bring their third score for director Boots Riley, following Sorry to Bother You (2018) and the TV series I'm A Virgo. Their sixth studio album, Better Dreaming, was released on 4AD in May 2025. The score is a riotous, grotesquely carnival-flavored orchestral whirlwind. Reviewers have compared it to "demented circus music in the vein of Danny Elfman": dense, overwhelming, and deliberately exaggerated, it sets the tone for the film's entire absurdist universe. Built on Tune-Yards' signature percussion loops, unconventional vocal layers, and unexpected timbral choices, the soundtrack fills the screen with sounds that amplify the film's physical comedy. Boots Riley himself described the score as "bombastic, beautiful, outrageous," and at the SXSW premiere, the duo organized a marching band procession through the streets to perform the music live.
The score album was released by Lakeshore Records on May 22, 2026, concurrent with the film's theatrical opening.
