Etienne Nillesen - TWEE (2026) [Hi-Res]

Etienne Nillesen's solo album TWEE, recorded in Cologne, presents the snare drum as a self-contained harmonic and resonant instrument. Utilizing two closely tuned drums, circular motions, and varied pressure, the musician extracts sustained tones, interference patterns, and overtones. The compositions unfold as continuous, slowly transforming sonic fields, where conventional rhythm and pitch give way to the exploration of texture and spatial acoustics. This minimalist yet structurally complex approach reimagines the traditional role of percussion and transforms the act of listening into a deep, focused process of co-creation between the performer and the audience.
