"Canti D'Innocenza Canti D'Esperienza" (1973) is the debut studio album by the Italian supergroup Ibis, released on the Fonit Cetra label under the names of its members: Nico (Nico Di Palo), Gianni (Gianni Beleno), Frank (Frank Laugelli), and Maurizio (Maurizio Salvi).
The album is a shining example of Italian progressive rock (RPI), with a strong emphasis on heavy hard rock, virtuosic keyboard passages, and polyphonic vocals. The album's concept and title are inspired by William Blake's poetry cycle "Songs of Innocence and Experience."
The core of the band (Di Palo, Beleno, and Salvi) formed after their high-profile departure from the cult progressive rock group New Trolls following the recording of the dark and heavy album "UT" (1972). Teaming up with bassist Frank Laugelli, the musicians essentially continued to develop the aggressive yet classically refined sound of their previous band. This lineup later officially adopted the name Ibis.
