"VDB23 / Nulla è andato perso" is a collaborative concept album by two iconic figures of the Italian alternative and psychedelic scene: bassist Gianni Maroccolo (known for his work with Litfiba, C.S.I., and P.G.R.) and singer, poet, and philosopher Claudio Rocca.
This album was the final creative testament of Claudio Rocca, who passed away on June 18, 2013, long before the album's official wide release.
The project was originally conceived in 2012 as a solo album by Maroccolo, but after Rocca's addition, it evolved into a full-fledged duo. The first limited edition was released in late 2013 thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign among devoted listeners.
The album is a deep dive into electronic music, krautrock, psychedelia, and art rock. Here, Maroccolo's powerful bass lines are intertwined with guitar distortions, synthesizers, oriental instruments (sitar, esraj) and Rocky's deep, philosophical speech and vocal monologues.
