Dreams & Limitations is the second studio album by the Anglo-Portuguese duo Sleeping Pulse, released on June 5, 2026, under the auspices of the reputable German label Prophecy Productions.
This record was released exactly 12 years after the debut Under The Same Sky (2014) and became the long-awaited return of the project.
The album immerses the listener in deep reflections on existential angst, the flow of time, the inevitability of loss and desperate attempts to maintain sanity in a painful world. The lyrics, written by Mick Moss, touch on the themes of the inevitability of death (“there is no life without death”) and the impossibility of holding on to the people we love. However, despite the strong feeling of despair, regret for the past and anxiety, the work does not slide into blind self-pity. Rather, it offers the listener to share this burden, to find some comfort, hope and companionship in dark times.
The band's music was born at the junction of the gloomy melancholy of the northern English grey valleys and Portuguese fado with its eternal longing (saudade). Stylistically, it is a mixture of doom-progressive rock, art rock and post-rock textures, somewhat similar to alternative rock in the spirit of Tool or late Pearl Jam, but with a pronounced gothic-dummy tint.
The musical canvas is rich in nuances: slow atmospheric riffs and Moss's signature deep vocals are intertwined here with acoustic guitars, orchestrations, as well as the involvement of guest instruments such as flute and saxophone, which add additional volume to the compositions.
