Mike Cooper - The Dream Island of Birds (2026) [Hi-Res]

Musician Mike Cooper is releasing his new album, The Dream Island of Birds, on the Discrepant label, blending field recordings with electronic processing. The album's concept was inspired by a 1990s encounter with illustrator Charles van Sandwyk in Fiji and his illustrated dream book of the same name. The audio source material, featuring birds and insects, was recorded by Cooper in 2012 during an artist residency on Pulau Ubin island. The tracks serve as an artistic re-imagining rather than literal representations of nature, with one piece generated entirely through electronic means.
