Released via Waystar Records and Def Jam Recordings, The Yearbook (Extended Version) is the deluxe edition of rising Texas R&B quartet 2BYG’s fan-favorite 2025 debut mixtape. The group—whose name stands for “To Be Young and Gifted”—comprises Matt Brown, Tourè (Kwame Tourè Davis), Nixx (Glenn Nixon), and KD (Kendahl Karpovich), four performing arts high school classmates whose vocal harmonies were forged in choir and honed on TikTok where they amassed over a million followers. The extended version builds on the original nine-track collection, which VIBE hailed for its “vibrant Gen Z aura” and “smooth harmonies,” with standouts including the new jack swing-infused “Karma” and the B2K-reminiscent “Wassup”. Led by the single “I Want You”—which samples Biz Markie’s classic “Make the Music With Your Mouth, Biz” to bridge two eras of the culture—the deluxe release finds the quartet deepening their signature blend of 90s vocal group reverence and contemporary R&B freshness.
