Alba Careta presents Panical, her fourth album, which turns cultural legacy into creative drive and confirms Alba as one of the most outstanding jazz performers and composers in the country, and already a reference in European jazz. In this new stage, Alba goes deep into the land as a source of inspiration, guided by the strength of her roots and by the female figures who set the pulse of this work.

The panical –or eryngo, sea holly– is a wild Catalan plant, beautiful but full of thorns, resistant to be touched yet blooming at its own strength. This image becomes a symbol of the album: a tribute to resilience and untamed beauty, inspired by strong and rebellious women who are true to themselves. Women who, like the eryngo, have grown in a difficult environment and left their mark on a world that was not expecting them.

The album is produced by the acclaimed pianist Shai Maestro –known for his work with the Avishai Cohen Trio and other international projects– and it combines original compositions with new versions of songs from the Catalan “Nova Cançó”, reinterpreted through a contemporary and personal jazz language. The result is a solid work, with clear melody, precise energy, and a cohesive ensemble sound and its outstanding consistency and quality.
