Despite legal battles with labels and a plagiarism dispute with Keith Jarrett, the album earned a Grammy for Best Engineered Recording. Stylistically, the record signaled a shift from complex harmonic structures to a more minimal, atmosphere-driven, and groove-oriented sound.
