Jerry Butler - The Sagittarius Movement (1971) [Vinyl]

Sagittarius (Butler's a Sagittarian) Movement is icier than Butler's two ice-titled albums (Ice Man Cometh and Ice on Ice) that Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff produced. The songs are products of Butler's Songwriting Workshop with Butler's endearing duet with Brenda Lee Eager, "Ain't Understanding Mellow," written by Homer Talbert and Horsholt Polk -- the pièce de résistance; the quiet storm staple surely inspired Rick James' even more dramatic "Fire and Desire," which he recorded with Teena Marie some years later. Original copies aren't aplenty; a copy in good condition will set you back about 50 bucks.
