John Ellison - Some Kind Of Wonderful (2024) [Vinyl]

John Ellison is the awards-winning first-generation soul music singer-songwriter who wrote and recorded the classic “Some Kind of Wonderful” with his band Soul Brothers Six in 1967 for Atlantic Records. To date this standard has been recorded by more than 70 artists (e.g., Grand Funk Railroad, Buddy Guy, Joss Stone, Huey Lewis & the News, and recently Rod Stewart) making it one of the most recorded songs in the history of pop music. John received no fewer than 7 life time BMI achievement awards and was inducted in the West Virginia and the Rochester Music Hall of Fame.

Now, he recorded this new 2024 album “Some Kind of Wonderful”, produced & arranged by Roger Heijster, featuring a remake of his classic hit as well 11 new songs showing John’s versatile craftmanship as a songwriter and performer. The album is now being considered for a nomination in the 2025 67th Annual GRAMMY® Awards ballot in the category of “Best Americana Album”.
