South African producer and DJ Akiid (Nkalipho Andile Mkhize), a prominent figure in the Durban underground scene, releases his debut album Skeffu via the Hakuna Kulala label. Comprising 11 tracks, the record represents a futuristic evolution of the local Gqom club genre. The artist seamlessly blends traditional South African rhythms and isiZulu vocalizations with elements from the global electronic spectrum, including dub techno, acid house, amapiano, Jersey club, trap, and psychedelic trance. The release highlights the musician's idiosyncratic style, which gained international acclaim following a landmark performance at the Nyege Nyege Festival in 2025.
