Downtown Boys - Public Luxury (2026) [Hi-Res]

Political punk quintet Downtown Boys has announced their new album, Public Luxury, scheduled for release via Sub Pop Records on June 26, 2026. Arriving nearly a decade after their acclaimed debut Cost of Living, the record blends sharp socio-political themes with an eclectic sonic landscape where indie-punk roots merge with Latin traditions, prominent saxophone lines, electronic breakbeats, and layered synths reminiscent of Sam's Town-era The Killers.

Co-produced by the band's Joey La Neve DeFrancesco and recording engineer Seth Manchester (known for his work with Lambrini Girls, Lightning Bolt, and Model/Actriz), the album was recorded at their longtime creative hub, Machines With Magnets. The project encapsulates the enduring activism of core members Victoria Marie and DeFrancesco, alongside deeply personal narratives, including a tribute to Marie's late grandmother and a rework of a track from their side project, Malportado Kids. Following their award-winning soundtrack work for the film Miss Marx, the band aimed to distill the cathartic and inclusive energy of their live performances directly into the studio tracking.
