Saxophonist and composer Jack Wilson has presented his debut album, The Bear And The Wolf, recorded by his tight-knit quartet featuring Billy Marrows, Max Kahn, and Jack Yardley. The release's compositions rely on narrative elements, the spiritual jazz legacy of the John Coltrane Quartet (featuring McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones), and tributes to mentors Ian Peak and Paul Welch. The music combines lyrical ballads with a dynamic 1980s John Scofield-style groove, showcasing the synergy and mutual trust of the band members.
