"DreamState" is the debut full-length studio album by the Echorec project, released in early 2026.

This title represents the solo project of British multi-instrumentalist and producer Ben McEvoy, previously known for his retro-futuristic EPs and singles. "DreamState" is the culmination of his years of experimentation with sound recording and analog synthesis. The project's name directly references the legendary vintage Binson Echorec tube echo (used extensively by Syd Barrett and David Gilmour in early Pink Floyd), setting the tone for the entire release.

"DreamState" is conceived as a conceptual instrumental trip (with occasional vocals and speech samples), exploring the phenomenon of lucid dreaming, the boundary between reality and simulation, and the phenomenon of déjà vu.

The album masterfully combines the legacy of the "golden era" of 1970s prog rock with contemporary production. There's no overload of heavy riffs—the music captures you with its volume, depth, and incredible stereo effect. The album's signature feature is a deep, enveloping delay and reverb effect, which literally makes the guitar and synth lines "float" in space.

Critics and connoisseurs of the genre greeted the 2026 release with great enthusiasm, noting that Echorec has achieved something rare: crossing analog nostalgia with cosmic, melancholic rock in a way that sounds relevant for the second half of the 2020s. The album is perfect for listening from start to finish with quality headphones.
