Hadley Caliman - Iapetus (2026)

The label Wewantsounds presents the first vinyl reissue in over fifty years of the rare 1972 album Iapetus by American tenor saxophonist and flutist Hadley Caliman, originally released on Bob Shad's Mainstream Records. The material was composed and directed by pianist Todd Cochran (aka Bayeté), who established the record's cosmic foundation through the heavy use of the Fender Rhodes electric piano. The sessions featured prominent West Coast players, including Luis Gasca and Woody "Sonship" Theus. The album blends modal intensity, spiritual jazz, and funk elements, reflecting Hadley Caliman's versatile background as a collaborator for both jazz masters and rock icons such as Santana and the Grateful Dead. This new edition is equipped with remastered audio, archival materials, and exclusive liner notes.
