First English Romantic work by Sterling. Cliffe, who wrote only a few works, was a composer strongly inspired by Bruckner with the same penchant for beautifully shaped themes. The third movement is truly heavenly. Cloud and Sunshine is also a very interesting work - the opening actually sounds like it could be played from an organ!
