Bruno-Leonardo Gelber is a truly fascinating figure, and we are proud to embark on an extensive retrospective of his discography. A sophisticated, worldly dandy and a beloved icon of Argentine popular culture, Gelber is above all a guardian of the great Romantic tradition - undoubtedly one of its very last champions. Having heroically overcome childhood polio, which left him bedridden and paralyzed, he reclaimed his mobility and zest for life when a piano keyboard was literally slid into his bed. Under the legendary guidance of Marguerite Long and soon acclaimed by Arthur Rubinstein, he built a stellar career primarily dedicated to the Austro-German repertoire. There, the architectural clarity of his playing and the magisterial, rich sonority of his left hand work absolute wonders. These releases invite you to rediscover him in marvelous early recordings of Beethoven and Schumann, his lifelong musical companions.
